Paul did say there may be a member of his family in the race ‒ namely his father Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.). The Kentucky Senator and Tea Party favorite did make one promise if his father does decide to run:
"I've said that he is my landlord in Washington, I live with him, so I can't make him mad. I told him the one thing I would not do is run against him."
Here’s what he had to say about Donald Trump’s nascent campaign:
"I think it's very hard for an entertainer to be taken seriously as a candidate. It's very easy to be perceived as frivolous and I think that since all he seems to be talking about is the president's birth certificate, I think that he's already pushed himself way off to the edge of things that it'll be hard to be considered seriously."
