PAC Ad to Give Perry Edge in Iowa
A recent ad featuring Texas Governor Rick Perry as “better option for president” is set to generate conservative support for Perry in Iowa, reports
Politico.
Perry, as an undeclared candidate, is not set to appear on the upcoming Ames Star Poll Ballot. The new super PAC Jobs for Iowa sponsored the ad hoping to introduce Iowa voters to Perry.
“It is no secret that a significant contingency of voters are uninspired by our current slate of Republican candidates for President,” a Politico source said. " . . . Rick Perry is our best chance to beat President Obama.”
The Politico report states Jobs for Iowa is rumored to have the backing of wealthy, long-time Texas supporters of Perry. And, the campaign is potentially not limited to just Iowa.
Depending on the moves Perry makes in the near future, other Jobs PACs in early primary states — including Jobs for South Carolina and Jobs for Florida — plan to launch similar campaigns. A recent Gallup poll also showed Perry to already have an edge over current front-runner Mitt Romney in southern states.
The Jobs PACs were previously reported to support Mitt Romney. According to Politico this was because the operatives who registered the PACs, Rob Jentgens, had previously worked on Romney’s 2008 presidential campaign.
