Bachmann Gets Tip of the Hat from Tea Party Express
Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann received a much needed nod Monday from the nation’s largest tea party group, Sunshine State News
Tea Party Express chairman Amy Kremer stopped short of endorsing the Minnesota congresswoman but she did laud her efforts to restore small government principals to the broken political establishment.
“While the Tea Party Express has not endorsed a presidential candidate at this time, Michele Bachmann garners strong tea party support because of her work and commitment to restoring responsibility to Washington, D.C.,” said Kremer.
“We have been pleased with Congresswoman Bachmann’s contribution to this presidential race and to the tea party movement by focusing attention on the need to end the out-of-control government spending and skyrocketing national debt,” Kremer continued. “She is a champion of tea party values, as she campaigns for fiscal responsibility and the principles of a limited federal government laid out in the U.S. Constitution.”
According to the Real Clear Politics Average of reputable Iowa polls, Bachmann is currently in fifth place with 8.7 percent of like caucus-goers with eight days left before the first-in-the-nation caucuses. Texas congressman Ron Paul leads the field at 22.3 percent, followed closely by former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney at 21 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is in third place at 14.7 percent and Texas governor Rick Perry holds fourth place with 7.7 percent.
