Bachmann Picks Up New Hampshire Tea Party Endorsement
Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann picked up a key Tea Party endorsement in New Hampshire Tuesday evening, PortsmouthPatch.com
Jerry DeLemus, chairman of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC and founder of the Rochester 912 Project, decided to throw his support behind the Minnesota. DeLemus said he was “really taking a look at Ron Paul” as recently as last week, but ultimately decided to go with Bachmann.
“I kept coming back to Michele, and as the head of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress she most closely reflects my concerns and views regarding what needs to happen in America to save America,” DeLemus said in an email. “It is time we the voters choose the candidate we really want to win and stop falling prey to the scare tactic of voting who can win.”
DeLemus was clear in his email that this was his “personal endorsement,” and not that of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC or the 912 Project.
The endorsement will certainly be welcome news for the Bachmann camp. Her polling numbers have been on the decline in New Hampshire since her strong performance at the Manchester debate in June. Granite State staff shakeups and Bachmann’s almost singular focus on Iowa have only made matters worse here. According to the latest Real Clear Politics average of statewide polls, Bachmann is currently in fifth place at 3 percent, 33 points behind frontrunner Mitt Romney.
