Gap Widens Between Paul and Gingrich in Race to Win Iowa Caucus

A recent Public Policy Poll shows Texas congressman Ron Paul pulling ahead of former House speaker Newt Gingrich in New Hampshire in the race for the Republican nomination, reports The State Column.

Paul led Gingrich last week by a narrow margin of two percentage points. But the PPP poll released Thursday shows Gingrich pulling 13 percentage points, trailing Paul’s 21 points by 8 points.

The PPP poll also shows Gingrich in danger of being eclipsed by former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, at 12 points.

The State Column attributes Paul’s jump to his popularity among young voters. Paul garners 27 percent of voters under age 45. Romney also polls strongly in that category at 24 points.
