Santorum: Cain Right to Drop Out
Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum said Herman Cain was right to suspend his presidential campaign, according to The Hill
“Herman’s gone through a very difficult time,” Santorum said on ABC’s “This Week.”
“I think he made the right decision to leave for his family and the country. It clearly was a distraction that wasn’t going to go away.”
Cain suspended his campaign Saturday after meeting with his wife, saying that multiple sexual allegations had made it impossible to focus on his campaign.
Santorum said it is a “great thing” he has not climbed to the top of the polls just yet, as Cain and some of the other GOP candidates have done, because he still has the opportunity to surge.
“If you look at these little boomlets, they last about four to six weeks, Newt’s at about week three,” said Santorum. “We think we’re going to surprise a lot of people.”
