Rubio Says He’s Not Positioning Himself for VP
Freshman Senator Marco Rubio appeared on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning to put to rest widespread predictions that he’ll be tapped as the 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee, reports
Fox News.
Senator Rubio called suggestions that he would make the ideal vice presidential candidate “a nice compliment,” but insisted, “it’s not true.” “I’m not the vice presidential nominee; I will focus on my job as the Senator from Florida,” Rubio explained.
The tea party favorite has frequently denied reports that he is positioning himself for a 2012 run at the vice presidential nomination by focusing on his excitement to finally be a part of the U.S. Senate. “This is what I wanted. It’s the job I ran for,” Rubio said. In the Senate, “I can make a difference.”
