Washington- based Tea Party PAC FreedomWorks, led by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, announced it will be forming a super PAC. An official name for the super PAC has yet to be announced, however RollCall reports it will likely be “FreedomWorks Action”.

Although the mission of the new super PAC is not immediately clear, FreedomWorks’ president Matt Kibben said, “Our value- added is still organizing on the ground.” In past elections, FreedomWorks has run some political advertisements, but has primarily focused on turning out the vote.

Under federal election guidelines, the new super PAC can only make independent expenditures. Super PACs may raise and spend unlimited amounts of money, but under the restriction they cannot directly contribute to campaigns
