Tea Party Patriots co-founders Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin offered a prescription for the U.S. economy – drop the placebo cure of deficit targets and deferred spending cuts and get serious about the debt and deficit crisis. In a hard-hitting Politico opinion piece, Meckler and Martin encouraged GOP leaders and the White House to dig deeper:

 

“The only real cuts in spending are cuts made and imposed now. If these “leaders” can’t do this now — when there is such strong public support for reducing spending and dealing with the deficit — they never will. It’s the height of naiveté to think otherwise.”
