Gingrich Gains a Super PAC
A new Super PAC, Solutions 2012, has emerged in support of GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, reports Poltic
The PAC was launched around the same time as last night’s debate.
Charlie Smither, head of the Solutions 2012 and former College Republicans chairman, told Poltico that he believes conservatives discontented with rival Rick Perry will defect to the Gingrich camp.
“If Rick Perry gave that performance as the Republican nominee, they wouldn’t have to count the ballots; it would be over on the spot,” Smith said. “Compare that to Newt, who showed the kind of intellect that conservatives have long known and respected. That contrast will absolutely lead to more support for Newt.”
Though a super PAC is not a silver bullet, it does show an increase in the competitiveness of Ginrich’s campaign, reports Politico’s Alexander Burns.
The super PAC’s video pitch is available on the Politico website.
