Outback Waitress Fired for Tea Party Bracelet
Outraged Illinois tea party members protested against a Crystal Lake, Illinois Outback Steakhouse Saturday after a waitress there said she was fired for wearing a tea party bracelet.
Megan Geller, 23, says her termination came after two restaurant patrons asked for the restaurant's manager after seeing her "Don't Tread on Me" bracelet.
“They stirred up the wrong hornet’s nest and messed with the wrong mama,” the terminated waitress's mother said at the Saturday protest. “When mamas get mad, mamas get to work.”
Since the Saturday protest, Outback has come under mounting criticism from conservative bloggers, radio hosts, and tea party activists for the termination, and the firing has received media coverage from the Associated Press, Huffington Post, and Northwest (IL) Herald
Outback company officials have disputed Geller's claim that her termination stemmed from the bracelet.
