Troy, Michigan Elects Tea Party Aligned Mayor
Troy, Michigan has a new tea party-aligned mayor. In yesterday's general election, Janice Daniels, a member of the anti-tax group Troy Citizens United, defeated long-time Troy councilwoman Robin Beltramini, who had supported a controversial tax designed to support the city's library operations. A first-time candidate, Daniels won with 7,709 votes to Beltramini's 7,092.
"I will not forget my principles. That's what you elected me to do. I will not back down," Daniels told supporters following her victory last night.
