Romney Criticizes President for ‘Campaigning’

Mitt Romney blasted President Obama for “campaigning” for his “dead” jobs plan, rather than doing his job in Washington.
Romney said the president should stay in Washington and make efforts to reach across the aisle to generate solutions, reports The Hill.

“We have the president right now campaigning . . . for his stimulus,” Romney said. “That stimulus bill was turned down by his own party, the Democrats. I don’t know what he’s campaigning about. What he needs to do is stop campaigning, stop blaming, and go back to Washington. Sit down with Republicans and work on legislation that will get America working again.”

The American Jobs Act was blocked by a senate vote last week. The bill failed to receive the 60 votes necessary to proceed with debate. Two Democrats voted against proceeding with debate.

The Preisdent’s tour through Virginia and South Carolina where he made speeches to put pressure on lawmakers to pass the bill, concluded on Wednesday. The president returned to the White House Thursday.

“I like the president, I think he’s a nice guy, but he’s never led before. He didn’t lead in the legislature in Illinois, he didn’t lead in the U.S. Senate,” Romney said. “Leadership is hard.”
