Ron Paul to Meet With Far-Right French Leader
GOP Presidential hopeful Ron Paul has agreed to meet with the leader of the far-right French National Front party, Marine Le Pen, AFP
Le Pen said in mid-September that she would be traveling to the United States to meet the leaders of the conservative tea party movement. In addition, Le Pen says she hopes to meet with both Republicans and Democrats. Wednesday Paul’s office confirmed Le Pen’s request to meet with the Texas congressman.
"Congressman Paul is also open to meeting with any of the other candidates, it should be noted," said Paul’s communications director Rachel Mills, referring to France's 2012 presidential race.
Le Pen succeeds her father in leading the National Front party, and is seen as a fresh face for the party. Opponents of the party have branded it racist.
Le Pen specifically cited hopes of meeting Ron Paul, calling him "a great defender of an international monetary system anchored on the gold standard."
