Tancredo: Rick Perry ‘Is finished’
Former Texas Rep. Tom Tancredo said the end is near for Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s presidential campaign as immigration hawks flock to GOP front-runner Mitt Romney, reports the Daily Caller
A well-known and vocal conservative anti-immigration activist, Tancredo ran for president in 2008 before dropping out and endorsing Romney’s campaign. Tancredo defended Romney against Perry’s accusation that the Massachusett’s governor hired illegal immigrants to landscape his lawn.
“Perry is just as guilty of ‘hiring illegals’ because I am sure he has been served by an illegal alien or has had his food cooked by one in a Texas restaurant,” Tancredo said in an email to the Colorado Peak Politics blog.
Tancredo has given his support to Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain and has predicted that despite his grand entrance to the GOP field, he will not win the nomination.
“I think he has imploded,” Tancredo said. “I think he is finished and I hope I helped kick some holes in his boat.”
