Romney Offers Tea Party Support
Tea party activists who often fault GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his “wishy washy” views may be surprised to find Romney offers support for the tea party on page 141 of his economic stimulus plan, reports
ABC News.
Romney not only compliments the fiscal responsibility of the tea party movement, but also aligns himself with tea party goals. “While getting the federal debt under control will be a long and arduous task, the first step toward recovery is admitting we have a problem and refusing to allow any more irresponsible borrowing,” writes Romney.
Romney also pledges, if elected, to cut and cap the federal budget at 20 percent of the GDP.
“The rise of the Tea Party is a classic instance of the self-correcting forces of American democracy in action,” writes Romney.
