Tea Party Reps. Meet In Indiana, Presumably Endorse Mourdock for Senate
Tea party group representatives around Indiana will meet Saturday morning in Greenfield to endorse, presumably, state Treasurer Richard Mourdock for the U.S. Senate over Sen. Richard Lugar, reports
Journal Gazette.
“We are going to keep on mission and keep our focus on electing a conservative in the GOP primary,” Monica Boyer, co-chairwoman of the tea party collation Hoosiers for a Conservative Senate.
“I’m not going to rule anything out. We have heard there are Lugar supporters coming,” Boyer said.
Mourdock spokesman Chris Conner said that Mourdock will be in attendance, although Lugar will not be there.
“Their whole purpose is to retire Dick Lugar,” David Willkie, Lugar’s political director said. “You don’t show up at the other side and say, ‘Here I am, take your shots.’”
